Description
This is my late series 3 ( D reg) 4. 2 sovereign .
A lovely car in a very unusual factory colour of Antelope Brown with a tan interior.
Full sovereign spec inc electric mirrors and seats, aircon , fuel computer etc.
Two sets of keys, handbooks and v5 present but no service history unfortunately .
Starts first time every time and rides just the way a good series 3 should, like a magic carpet, which certainly gives the impression that the 67k indicated mileage is genuine .
Bodywork is rock solid throughout , no rot in sills or arches and generally presents very well although the paintwork has cracking here and there from a previous respray I'm guessing at some time in the cars past . Far from horrendous, the paintwork polishes well and she will not disappoint . This hasn't bothered me as it's a car I would happily use every day.
Interior benefits from a brand new , complete headlining , renovated leather, original carpets in very good order and is a very special place to be . There is a modern stereo fitted but an original radio cassette will be included.
Mechanically excellent and has just had a replacement , overhauled cylinder head , service and fresh coolant.
A nice set of pepper pot alloys with good, matching tyres are also present.
Also had a new fuel injection pump and fuel filter. Gearbox nice and smooth as is the suspension , steering etc. Also benefits from a stainless steel exhaust system .
As with any Jaguar series 3 there are areas for improvement that are reflected in the price and my intention was to work through these issues to make her near perfect as the shell is such a good starting point . These are as follows;
Paintwork . Perfectly presentable but I was contemplating a bare metal respray .
Aircon not blowing cold but control system and heating work fine.
Electric aerial temperamental .
Laquer on interior woodwork degraded in places . This is a use every day , go anywhere classic jaguar that absolutely will not disappoint . She is registered as having been salvaged in the past but I can find no evidence of impact damage so I would assume that it was down to cosmetics/ paintwork. This doesn't seem to be an issue with the insurance as I have her on an agreed value policy .
All in all I would say that if you are in the market for a solid, smart and useable car that is very reasonably priced then this car will certainly not disappoint . Having owned a good number of these saloons I have absolutely no doubt that this car has the potential to significantly increase in value with some improvement.
Only selling as a recent acquisition means I am now struggling for space .
Feel free to contact me for a chat about the car , more info , walk around video etc etc etc .
Viewing welcomed near Lewes in Sussex .
