Description
WGK 992M - Volkswagen Beetle 1974
** Advertised for sale on behalf of a friend of mine.
Now if you are in the market for an excellent condition Beetle with a great colour to match this is the one to pick! Beetles began production in 1938, only to then be pulled into the German war effort. Production ran until 2003, where 21. 5m were created - quite the number!
In 1974, just under a million Beetles were produced, at a base cost of around £1, 300 (£17k in todays money! Whilst Beetles are a fairly familiar sight, im sure you will agree this one stands out!
This has had the same owner for the last 8 years, and been with a close friend previously. However, its been barely used, and quite rightly deserves to be driven and to be shown off at car shows!
It is a genuine UK car with many ‘classic’ modifications (there are many but ive listed some here):
- California spec (sloping headlights, indicator within the headlight, front panel/ bonnet has been flushed, smoothed).
-Cowl look, with early spec rear wings.
-Rear valance has been smoothed/ flushed off.
-One-piece windows.
-Adjustable suspension (its pretty low now!).
-1600 twinport engine - recently serviced (carb/ points/ coil) so it runs perfectly!
-Recaro seats from Audi, 2 seater only but can be put back to 4 seats if needed (it was boarded out for a decent sound system to be put in place.
It was resprayed around 4 years ago, in a distinct Blue/ Purple metallic (a Renault 5 colour im told). This really adds to the look of the Beetle, along with the 5-spoke Empi alloys that are in great condition. (The tyres will be changed once the car is sold).
Underneath is also very good/ solid, and this car has had minimal welding in its time.
I cant stress how lovely this car looks - It sits just right and standing still, it turns heads!
Tax and MOT exempt! Here is a reason to get into the classic car world…
There is a genuine reason for why this car is for sale. Strictly viewing by appointment, and can meet the current owner.
Advertised elsewhere so may remove early. I work in retail so be patient with communication, thanks!
