I listed this car about 6 weeks ago and took it off market as it was in storage and i wanted to advertise it properly .
The car is on the AVO club register and has its restoration fully documented on their website under ( On the rebuild at last) it has appeared in the monthly magazine which i have and was feature in their calendar 2 years ago,
This car was purchase by me in 2006 the seller (4 previous owners) had as many do stripped it to restore and never got round to doing it. I had the body shell properly repaired , strut tops replaced , patched in the boot and also footwell, the repair is very high standard and you will struggle to find where its been worked on.
Its a matching number car , engine was fully overhauled , it is standard apart from a piper camshaft, runs over 50 psi oil pressure during the rebuild it it had new parts fitted if required and existing parts blasted and powder coated, This includes cross member steering rack, new springs , new strut inserts, new suspension bushed, the gearbox was stripped and so was back axle , they were in excellent condition and just required new seals . All nuts and bolts were yellow passivate/ zinc coated. Re-cored rad and it has the correct kenlowe fan . The wiring loom was repaired and rebound , it even has the correct 6RA fused relay .
Interior is original front seats back were new covers , new door cards , new roof lining and new proper on piece looped carpet the dash top has no cracks. All switches were refurbished . It has an original centre console rare in its self, radio is not connected.
The heated rear window is not connected i forgot to do that but a simple job, the passenger interior grab handle need fitted , i need to find the screws, i currently have the air cleaner off it, but again its standard and has correct mounts (again hard to get.)
The car has an extensive history in an a4 binder, all keepers appear to have added to this over the years it includes original sales invoice, many service and repair invoices, breakdown recovery , mot's tax discs and service book , also a small accident repair to front wing , it was Ziebarted from new and this was maintained every year , as i restored it i removed it from under bonnet inside floor, boot lid, and was starting to do the boot interior, this needs completed if you want it perfect.
If left standing for time the car takes a wee while to start but usually runs and starts lovely no smoke .
Wheels are correct alloys that were diamond cut, new tyres, new door and window seals were fitted, windows have reg number etched on , it has new standard exhaust . I have the car insured on agreed value in excess of £50k
Its been some 6 years since it was finished and the restoration took 10 years ( I took my time ).
The car is not perfect but has no rust a great shell which is correct, and superb running gear, it has many hard to find parts and an extensive service history . Although this is long listing there are many new things i have probably not covered.
I am firm on price, i was looking for £40k but feel its excellent value at £38k.
