Description
TriBSA 650 twin Pre-unit.
Restoration project nearly complete. Not running as still needs timing done and potentially may need a new Stator & Rotor.
I have spent two years restoring this bike including and engine rebuild, respray and many new parts (full list below). According to the V5 it was first registered in June 1968 but as it is made of of various parts some may be older. I believe the engine may be from as far back as 1962. It's a BSA A10 frame with a Triumph 6T engine. I have taken the restoration as far as I can as I am not good with bike electrics and I am not certain the stator / rotor supplied with the bike is the right one, I also have a new car project to focus on. IT IS NOT RUNNING.
Upon stripping down the engine I discovered an issue with the crankcase so sourced a reconditioned one (see pic). I also added new push rods, and camshafts although I believe the camshafts were previsously used but were in perfect condition. I replaced all gaskets, piston rings and main bearings and fitted all new head bolts and rocker cover bolts. Rocker caps were also replaced with new. I also bought a replacement rear brake lever but it needs some work on the return spring.
The frame was sandblasted, red oxided, primed and resprayed and the swing arm bushes were replaced as was the swing arm pin.
Full list of new parts is as follows:
Handlebars, rear shocks, front fork oil seals, fork gators, centre stand, rear brake shoes, chain, clutch plates, clutch primary sealing disc, exhaust clamps, engine gaskets, all carb gaskets, main bearings, push rods and push rod seal set, rotary breather spring, oil sump gaskets, timing cover gasket, air filters, one chrome air filter cover, piston rings, copper cylinder head gasket, rocker box fixings, cylinder head bolts, rocker caps. rocker bolts, fork leg oil screws, chaincase filler cap, gear box gaskets, inlet manifold studs, gearbox top mounting stud, gearbox clamp nut, headlamp bulb and many new bolts and allen screw fixings. I also have numerous workshop manuals that I am happy to include with the bike. I also have the V5.
The saddle has also been professionally re-covered.
