Description
The story of the Alfa Romeo 1750 GT Veloce Bertone When the Alfa Romeo 1750 GT Veloce was unveiled at the 1967 Geneva Motor Show, one thing was immediately clear: this was no ordinary car. No, it was a masterpiece that put Italian art, technology and passion on four wheels. The car designed by Bertone embodies everything that makes Alfa Romeo so fascinating: timeless elegance, pure sportiness and that little something - the 'brio', the fire, that only the Italians know how to infuse into their cars in such an incomparable way. One look at the long, flowing lines of the bodywork and every car enthusiast's heart begins to beat faster. At the front, the classic Alfa triangular grille - sharp but slender - greets you, flanked by the emblematic double headlights that give the car its unmistakable Alfa face. The shape of the roof and the elegant side line literally merge into one another, as if the designers had created the car in one fluid brushstroke. Every detail exudes craftsmanship, as if art and technology had been brought together in perfect symbiosis. The slightly sloping rear end gives an impression of dynamism, even when the car is stationary, and perfectly complements the overall image of this 'macchina sportiva'. But the real heart of the 1750 GT beats under the bonnet: a 1. 8-litre in-line four-cylinder engine which, with its 118 Cavalli (horsepower), brings untamed passion to the road. Just turn the ignition key and the engine comes to life with that typical Alfa sound - a sound that runs through the marrow and legs and makes the adrenalin flutter. This engine demands the road, it wants to be moved, and the five-speed manual gearbox invites you to feel the power of this classic on every journey. Every gear change is precise, almost as if the car were communicating with you and whispering: "I want fun - more gas! It's in the corners that the 1750 GT shows its true class. The independent front suspension and rigid rear axle give just the right amount of control and comfort - sporty yet elegant, a perfect balance of precision and lightness. In tight bends in particular, driving becomes a dance you never want to forget. History of the Alfa Romeo 1750 GT Veloce Bertone - 1st series This special example of the highly coveted first series Alfa Romeo 1750 GT Veloce Bertone was first registered on 19. 03. 1969. Almost three decades later, in 1997, this classic became the property of a collector who proudly drove the car on the Côte d'Azur - where the roads are a match for the car. In 2015, he opted for a Nuts& Bolts Concours restoration carried out by the legendary Alfa Classic Center (ACC) in Dortmund. What followed is difficult to describe in words and causes the author of these lines - looking at the bills and the corresponding investment - to run out of breath. The bodywork: completely revised for the competition. The customer attached great importance to the perfection of the edges, the lines, the slots and the opening and closing of the doors and bonnets. The bodywork was water-jet stripped and given a coat of total immersion paint after treatment. Rear axle suspension and steering with reinforced bushes. Front brake: 4-piston caliper from ATE. Engine and gearbox: rebuilt and modified cylinder head with larger valves, enlarged and modified runner, denser pistons fitted, lightened connecting rod, lightened crankshaft and flywheel, new Weber 45 carburettors, additional oil cooler, electric fan, the emphasis was placed not only on improved power (140 bhp), but also on high torque that starts early.
