Description
History of the BMW E9 Coupé The BMW E9 Coupé is undoubtedly one of the most remarkable cars in the history of the automobile, and remains the epitome of elegance and performance to this day. In 1968, the 2800 CS was presented at the International Motor Show (IAA) in Frankfurt, a model that already laid the foundations for the future success of the E9. With the introduction of the 3. 0 CSI in autumn 1971, equipped with powerful petrol injection and 200 bhp, the coupé really took off. The design of the E9 is a masterpiece in itself. The elongated bonnet, curved lines and sleek profile make the 3. 0 CSI an absolute eye-catcher on the road. The famous "Hofmeister bend" on the C-pillar, a design trademark, was invented by Wilhelm Hofmeister. But the influence of Italian design art cannot be ignored: the stabilising bend already found its form in the BMW 3200 CS by Giorgetto Giugiaro, who worked at Bertone. This harmonious fusion gives the E9 a lightness and filigree that are unrivalled in the automotive world. But the E9 isn't just a feast for the eyes. Under the bonnet lies the powerful 3. 0-litre six-cylinder engine, which delivers impressive performance. With acceleration from 0 to 100 km/ h in well under eight seconds and handling that shines on motorways and winding country roads alike, the 3. 0 CSI offers a driving experience that combines sporting demands with effortless comfort. The E9 was not only a star on the road, but also on the racetrack. As the base vehicle for the legendary BMW Motorsport racing cars of the 1970s, it enjoyed numerous successes and set milestones in motor sport. Its combination of technical perfection and Italian design made it one of the most coveted models of its era. With only 8, 144 examples produced, the 3. 0 CSI is still a highly coveted collector's item. To take your place behind the wheel of this coupé is not only to experience the fascination of a bygone era, but also to discover a piece of automotive history that makes the hearts of car fans around the world beat faster. The BMW E9 3. 0 CSI - a timeless masterpiece that has lost none of its appeal, even today. History of the BMW 3. 0 CSI -SSC-514 offered here This BMW E9 3. 0 CSI was produced in 1972 and probably delivered for the first time in Switzerland. On 29. 09. 1977, this coupé was sold in Italy and circulated under the Italian registration number CT-4131526. In early 2022, Scuderia Sportiva Colonia bought this BMW and gave it an uncompromising 'Nuts&Bolts' restoration, which was completed in October 2024. The bodywork was completely dismantled, defective sheet metal replaced and then reassembled in a form-fitting manner. In keeping with the paint remains found when the vehicle was dismantled, this CSI was painted in the original BMW Malaga colour (021), then fitted with a light brown leather interior with matching door panels. In our opinion, this is one of the most elegant colour combinations for a BMW E9. The engine and its accessories have also been completely restored, the fault-sensitive D-Jetronic system has been modernised with 'hidden' programmable injection, a 5-speed Getrag gearbox has been overhauled, the original 14" Petrini aluminium wheels have been refurbished and fitted with new tyres, the electrical system and the VDO instruments have been overhauled. The braking system, fuel pump, all distributors and associated pipes were replaced, and new Bilstein shock absorbers were fitted... every detail was overhauled or renewed. Some improvements were also made to this CSI during the restoration: coloured glazing, maintenance-free stainless steel exhaust, retro radio with chrome aerial, separate USB sockets for mobile phone or navigation. In short, a perfect, like-new BMW 3. 0 CSI in one of the most elegant colour combinations awaits its new owner. This car still needs to be run in according to factory specifications, and we're also offering a one-year warranty, provided that all the necessary service work is carried out in-house. Summary Scuderia Sportiva Colonia has paid particular attention to these technically advanced coupés. At the beginning of the 70s, the ravishing shape, the excellent chassis, the very good brakes and the powerful engine were the absolute benchmark. BMW's slogan "Driving pleasure" is brought to life in the BMW E9 in a unique and incomparable way. The interior pampers its owner with luxurious materials, the seats are very comfortable with lateral support...
