Description
The Peugeot 202 marked the revival of the Sochaux-based firm. It was designed to compete with the famous Traction Citroën. Its lines were inspired by the famous 402, and its aerodynamic styling was typical of the "fuseau" era. Powered by a 4-cylinder, 1133 cm3 engine, it offered dynamic qualities totally in tune with its era, already reaching 100 km/ h. More than 20, 000 Peugeot 202s were sold, proof if any were needed of the Sochalienne's many qualities. The interior was opulent for its time, in keeping with Peugeot's bourgeois tradition. Today, the Peugeot 202 is rarer than its Citroën counterpart. The Peugeot 202 that I am offering for sale due to declining health is very interesting, and probably unique having covered only 11824 kms since its original run in 1940. It is in superb overall original condition, never restored, its black paintwork is of fine quality, with just a hint of patina, giving it an undeniable cachet and authenticity. The interior is very well preserved, and the seats are magnificent, as are the dashboard and headlining. The car is sold with its service manual and a few spare parts. This Peugeot 202, which has been on display at the Peugeot Museum since the 1960s, has recently been fully recommissioned and road tested. It is also in very good working order, as confirmed by its technical inspection and its recent return to technical service in 2023. I have a list of the work carried out in France and Jersey. It has only covered 11824 km since new, is completely original and has never been restored. I can deliver the car to Calais, Cherbourg or Caen for collection by the new owner, it has not been registered since the war, and comes with a certificate from Peugeot allowing it to be registered as a classic car in France. It has recently passed a technical inspection in Jersey with no faults. Due to the car's originality and condition, it has also received an invitation to take part in the prestigious Dinard Elegance in June 2025 and is complete with driver's handbook and technical manual. Perfect for the 80th anniversary celebrations to commemorate the end of WWII, a true collector's item in this condition with a history dating back to 1940, never modified or altered since new.
