The Appeal

When Mercedes-Benz presented the new Typ 170 V at the 1936 International Motor and Motorcycle Show in Berlin, they were setting up much of the company's format for the future. In many ways, the solidly built, pacey and comfortable 170 was a natural precursor to the company's future post-war success. Indeed, if it wasn't for the car's return to market at the end of WW2, we wouldn't have Mercedes-Benz today.

This specific model is from the first year of production. That's a real rarity - prewar examples are extremely rare, and can be recognised by the car's unique badging, which was standardised post-war. The car's convertible limousine body style is a standout feature, offering a blend of luxury and open-air driving experience with a distinctive executive milieu.

This Mercedes-Benz 170 has been in the same family for over 50 years, and it shows in the meticulous care and attention it has received. The comprehensive restoration by leading classic car specialists in Croatia has returned the vehicle to its factory condition, making it a true collector's item.
