The Appeal
In 1950s Britain, for those with aspirations there was Ford’s Zephry. Swapping four cylinder power for an altogether smoother and more upmarket six, these cars mixed transatlantic styling with well equipped cabins.
For those wishing to lean into that fashionable style there was the convertible, coachbuild for Ford by Carbodies. They were rare and expensive when new, but today are sought-after because of that style, the four-seater practicality and the smooth driveability.
Here is a truly lovely example, a 1955 that has been comprehensively restored across the mechanicals - there is a rebuilt engine - as well as the bodywork and interior. Finished in red with a red interior, all of it carefully replicating the factory specification, this is a great set of summer wheels.
It will require a roof to complete, but that should be a relatively easy and painless task. Once done you have a quite special 50s convertible that really stands out.
