The Appeal
Jaguar’s new small, post-war car shrunk all the qualities of its sumptuous saloons and sports cars into something altogether more accessible. Retrospectively known as the Mk1, the new car introduced a style that is now widely regarded as amongst the most beautiful of any four door car.
The Mk1’s appeal didn’t stop at the looks. Inside there was an interior brimming with typically Jaguar deft touches - and lots of wood - while under the bonnet was the firm’s Le Mans-honed XK straight six.
Here is a concours-level example of that car, a 1957 2.4litre manual that was extensively restored five years ago. That work was completed to a high quality and covered mechanicals, engine rebuild, bodywork, paintwork, interior and woodwork and carpets. No wonder that the seller displays it extensively at classic car shows and events where it is much admired.
Looking at the photographs we can understand that reaction. It comes with CPAA registration to May 2025 and is ready to use, enjoy and of course admire.
