The Appeal
If quirky had four wheels, it would be a BMW 600. The firm’s first post-war economy car also has another claim to fame: it originated the semi trailing arm suspension set up that was subsequently used on every BMW - except the M1 - up until the Z3 of the 1990s.
It is clever too. Extending the original single seater bubble car chassis created, remarkably, a proper four seater car with the sort of cabin space that would surely appeal to Doctor Who.
This one is a lovely example. The stand-out orange and white colour scheme suits the cheeky style and it is in great, unmodified condition. It appears to be an older restoration, but the signs of use are exceptionally light.
In the hands of the current keeper - a classic car collector - since 2010, it is now time for this most characterful of classics to find a new owner. Whether you take to the road or just enjoy looking at its endlessly interesting aesthetics, it will certainly be rewarding.
