The Appia was named after a Roman road. Fortunately, Lancia's engineers worked much harder than their marketing team, because the elegant three-box bodywork clad one of the most creative cars ever.
A V4 engine, independent front suspension, rear-wheel drive and the absence of a centre pillar meant that this four-door family saloon had a lot to offer driver and passengers. The Appia was fun to drive and comfortable to travel in.
The 2 Series, produced from 1955 onwards, updated the look with a more conventional boot line, more power and a larger interior. These cars are considered by many to be the definitive version of the Appia.
Here, then, is a treat for enthusiasts. It is a 1959 car that has been carefully restored to factory specifications in a restrained but elegant grey. The work was completed some time ago but the car's thoughtful owners have ensured that it has been preserved in excellent shape with very few signs of ageing.
ASI certification and a Revision valid until November 2025 - the car has covered just 400 km since the last test - provide additional peace of mind to the buyer.
