The Appeal
If you’re considering campaigning this car in one of the many historic rallies currently operated all over the world, be sure to clear some space on your mantlepiece for the vast collection of silverware it's likely to bring home…
This 1961 MGA has been a highly successful entrant in numerous events over the past few decades including the gruelling Monte Carlo Challenge, in which it placed first in class two years running. It’s a most apt car for the job as BMC campaigned MGA exhaustively in period before switching to the Mini.
This lovely red example has been in present hands for the past 26 years. Rally preparation included a comprehensive mechanical rebuild and it has since proved exceptionally reliable. Now retired (at least for the time being) from competition, we’re informed that it’s only taken out on dry days while the sump guard has been removed and a dynamo swapped out in favour of a modern alternator.
Whether you want a ready-made rally car or simply want a well-sorted MGA with a fascinating backstory, this 1961 example certainly fits the bill.
