The plus
For its eighth generation, the Cadillac Eldorado has been extensively redesigned as a front-wheel-drive hardtop coupe. Using the 'E-body' platform shared with the Buick Riviera and Oldsmobile Toronado of the same era, it employed the same unusual powertrain as the latter. However, GM's chief stylist, Bill Mitchell, distinguished the two models by giving the Cadillac clean, angular styling.
Despite being very different from its predecessors, both mechanically and aesthetically, the eighth-generation Eldorado sold extremely well. That said, they've become a rarity on the roads today - especially outside the US.
This 1967 Eldorado, painted in its factory Sudan Beige colour with a contrasting dark brown vinyl hardtop, is absolutely stunning. The original 7.0-litre (429 cubic inch) V8 engine, mated to a three-speed automatic transmission, is perfect for quiet, carefree driving. Front-wheel drive allows you to benefit from a flat floor, providing generous space inside for passengers to travel in supreme comfort.
