The Appeal

The Ferrari 365 GTC/4 Coupe is pure magic - a 2+2 tourer that, while often overshadowed by its more famous sibling, the 365 Daytona, is nonetheless pure Italian legend from tyres to rooftop. the 365 GTC was produced for only a single year, with just over 500 produced.

Loaded with style, the 365 GTC/4's body lines were drawn by Filippo Sapino at Carrozzeria Pininfarina in the first half of 1970, it was a distinctly modernised look for Ferrari that avoided being overly boxy and sterile. While it opened to unjustifiably slight fanfare, the press knew this was something truly special.

"In all, a graceful, clean and understated design with subtleties one discovers only by looking it over carefully. One might say this model is a Ferrari for the mature enthusiast."
- Road & Track Magazine, July 1972

With its 'Colombo' V12 engine, power steering, air conditioning, and near-perfect weight distribution, this pure period Italian classic is both a joy to drive and really is one of the true Unicorns for Ferrari enthusiasts worldwide. Picked out in the optional tan leather upholstery, encapsulated in a delightful Blu Dino Metallizzato livery, this car really is a remarkable looker that's bound to turn plenty of heads - and will no doubt pick up an enthusiastic response at auction.

  • Impeccable body lines make this 365 GTC/4 a truly beautiful car

  • 15-inch Cromodora wheels in smart condition
  • Full set of Michelin tyres

  • Beautifully laid out centre console presents nicely
  • We understand everything is in good working order

If beauty is in the eye of the beholder, we've no doubt that every visitor to this gallery will be sharing their experience. This a truly beautiful car. The bodywork was not only designed by Pininfarina in Turin, but built by them too, and is popularly regarded as being a much higher quality than those assembled in Modena.

To make matters sweeter, it defies many of its contemporaries when it comes to rust prevention - The 365 GTC/4 body is adjoined by a fibreglass floor pan and footwells, along with an aluminium hood -- all of which resist corrosion. This seems to be particularly on show here - the car is in remarkably handsome fettle.

This example's paintwork was refreshed following some age-commensurate wear, but is still carrying a highly desirable Blu Dino Metallizzato shade, which perfectly suits its lines. Internally, the car's beige leather matches beautifully against the polished centre console and black dashboard.

The Mechanics

  • 4,390cc V12 powerplant
  • 5-speed manual transmission
  • Power output of 340hp
  • Recently fitted with a new exhaust
  • The vendor informs us that the car drives excellently

Anything with a V12 will catch a mechanic's eye - but the GTC 4's is particularly special. Designated Tipo F101 AC 000, this remarkable bit of kit was derived from the "Columbo" V12,  designed by Gioacchino Colombo in 1947. By 1972, it had evolved into a truly impressive beast, offering 340hp and capable of revving past 7,000rpm.

The sight and sound of this Euro-spec engine is truly something to behold, and we're informed by the vendor that it's in excellent working order. It definitely looks the part, and the engine bay looks nicely cared for. The exhaust has been recently replaced and we've not been told of any further work required.
