The Appeal
In the early 1970s business was not going entirely well for Lancia. The firm’s focus on engineering excellence delivered expensive cars that limited their market.
With acquisition by Fiat breathing down its neck, Lancia executed one final roll of the dice. The high performance 2000HF combined the exquisite Pininfarina styling of the Flavia Coupe with a punchy 120bhp fuel injected version of Lancia’s proven boxer motor.
It was another technological tour de force but just 1,229 found buyers. It would be the firm’s last new model before Fiat took over. Today these rare cars are highly sought after as superb examples of that Lancia engineering and Pininfarina design magic.
This ’73 2000HF has benefit from a comprehensive bodywork and mechanical rebuild that is carefully documented in the photos. It is a superb example of a brilliant car and would grace any collection.

The Flavia, on which the 2000HF is based, is one of the highlights of Pininfarina’s 60s output, a long, low and delicately styled coupe with a light and air glasshouse. Inside the HF got an interior heavily influenced by the Ferrari 330GT – also designed by Pininfarina – that blends wood veneers with a light touch to controls and fittings.
This car has been comprehensively restored and this is documented in the photos. The work has clearly been done to a high standard and has held up particularly well thanks to sparing use by its enthusiast owner.
The Mechanics
- 1,991cc Lancia flat four 123bhp fuel injected engine
- 5spd manual gearbox
- Full engine rebuild as documented in photographs
- Recent service work
- Four disc brakes using Lancia’s Superduplex braking system
The 2000HF’s long, low bonnet line is enabled by the similarly flat boxer engine that helped give these cars not just great performance but excellent balance and handling. The engine in this car has been extensively rebuilt – as documented in the photos – and recently serviced. We are told that the low 101,000 kilometres displayed is accurate.
The advanced specification doesn’t rest there. Add in a 5spd gearbox and Lancia’s own, evocatively named Superduplex braking system and you have a high water mark in the development of the firm’s engineering prowess.
