The Appeal
Concerned that America was soon to ban cabriolets due to safety concerns, Porsche’s first foray into a convertible 911 trialled an all-new technology. Incorporating a structural rollover hood and hard-top removable roof section, the Targa “safety cabriolet” was unveiled in 1967 - initially with a soft rear window that was later changed to a fixed rear screen from 1968 onwards. The Targa is still part of Porsche’s range today, continuing after the arrival of the 911 Cabrio in late 1982.
This 1976 Carrera 2.7 looks to be in very good condition and is offered with a fresh German TÜV valid until May 2026. We’re informed that it drives very well and has had just two former registered keepers - the last for over twenty years.
