The Appeal
Here's a rare groove...
Built in the old Simca factory in Poissy, the Samba was based on the Peugeot 104 and was to be the last Talbot passenger car. In an attempt to compete with other popular convertible hatchbacks of the day, like the Escort XR3i, Golf, and 205, Talbot sent the Samba to Pininfarina, who cut the roof off and made a smart little cabrio. Just 13,062 were built, and vanishingly few remain.
This has to be among the most original surviving examples. It is especially appealing due to its completely original condition, having never been restored or modified. With only two registered keepers from the same family, this Samba Cabriolet has a well-documented history and a reportedly genuine mileage of 148,000km.
The vehicle has recently undergone essential maintenance, including a new fuel pump, spark plugs, and a carburettor cleaning, ensuring it runs smoothly. Its vibrant red paintwork and well-preserved interior add to its allure, making it a delightful choice for classic car enthusiasts seeking an authentic and unaltered example.
