The Appeal
The R107 was built to cover large distances quickly and in comfort. That made it popular with American buyers, who got treated to the big 5.6L V8 denied to European customers.
That motor’s long-legged, effortless appeal explains why 560SLs are returning to Europe, where the same desire to cruise at speed over many miles holds sway. These big 230bhp cars are perfect for long road trips and classic car tours.
This ‘86 560SL is finished in understated black with a matching roof and hard top. Inside there is complementary grey leather interior. It is one of the later galvanised cars, which likely explains the well-preserved condition.
The car has recently been imported from dry Arizona state in the USA and we are told that all duties and VAT have been paid. It will need to be inspected and road registered, and the seller advises a general checkover due to limited recent use. There is a clean CARFAX report attesting to its good provenance.
