It's impossible to overstate the far-reaching impact of the original American Jeep. As well as inspiring the original Land Rover, its concept was emulated the world over - even in China where it would inspire the Beijing BJ212. Intended predominantly for military use but also available commercially, the four-wheel-drive BJ212 proved a highly capable off-roader and derivatives of the original design are still being made today.
Originally imported to Spain via the Netherlands, this 1988 example was used for a magazine feature before being abandoned in a field. It was later acquired by a military vehicle collector, undergoing recommissioning work but never actually driving it. In fact, it was never registered in Spain so the new owner will be able to registered the vehicle in any European country of their choosing.
A new soft top was made for it around five years ago but has not been used in the rain as the vehicle has been garage-stored. If you're looking for an off-roader that's quite unlike any you'd find in Europe, this Chinese Beijing BJ212 would make for a very interesting choice.
