The Appeal

If the Golf is undeniably one of the crowns of the hot-hatch, it's undeniable that the GTi 16v is the jewel in the centre. The perky performance, tight handling and simple Giugiaro design made this a beyond legendary car - a petrolhead's dream. The MK2 was larger, more powerful, safer - yet was similarly weighted and just as attractive as the previous generation.

Thanks to their petrolhead love affair from release to the modern day, original, unmodified examples are increasingly rare. This example, originally a show car, has been beautifully restored to standard and is in excellent running order - with new running gear, a fresh coat of paint and a new suspension all leading to a car that's defying its years and mileage.
