The Appeal
The R129 always had a stiff act to follow. Mercedes-Benz' preceding car, the R107, had quite literally changed the world with its big, bold, boxy proportions and comfortable trims. The new car aimed to evolve that formula rather than reinvent the wheel, and while it didn't quite become as synonymous as its predecessor, the R129 managed to carve out its place very ably and stayed in production into the new Millennium.
