The Appeal
In 1998, the WRC championship featured Carlos Sainz driving the Corolla WRC - and at the time, he was a favourite to take the win. Sadly, his attempt wasn't successful - but the near success was judged more than justifiable for a new limited edition. The new car took the base Euro-Spec G6 and added some extra sparkle.
A new lightweight aluminium hood, colour-matched side skirts and a colour-matched front lip adorned it, complete with unique 15" alloys and commemorative badging. It was a handsome addition to an already very attractive hatchback. While the power didn't increase - Toyota were eager not to price out its growing audience of younger drivers - the new car was lighter and undeniably more fun.
This 1999 G6R has been meticulously maintained and thoughtfully restored, with plenty of cosmetic work completed to keep it at its distinctive pre-millenium best. These cars are attracting plenty of nostalgia these days, and it's for excellent reason - perhaps this is your chance to find out why.
