When Alfa Romeo resurrected the GTA name for its high-performance 156, the new car had a lot to prove.
And it succeeded. Honed on the circuits of the European Touring Car Championship - which it won in 2002 and 2003 - the 156 GTA was an agile, characterful riposte to the stricter sports saloons from Germany. The key to its charm was the V6 'Busso' engine, one of the loudest in motoring and presented here in its 3.2-litre version.
Only 4,657 GTAs were built, of which only 1,673 were SportWagons like this one. Finished in classic Rosso Red with a remodelled black leather interior, this car has a history that sets it apart even further. It has a full Alfa Romeo service history - a series of 16 stamps - and only one registered owner until October 2023. The second owner is only selling it due to a change of circumstances in his personal life.
The second owner has invested in the car's mechanical components since its purchase. It arrives on the market with a new radiator and new tyres, major suspension work and a Technical Inspection valid until October 2025. Practical and entertaining, this is a 250 hp saloon in the purest Alfa Romeo tradition.
