By the time Ferrari revealed the 3. 2-litre version of the Mondial in 1985, the model had been in production under various guises since 1980. As a result, the manufacturer had resolved many of the performance and practical shortcomings of earlier Mondial models, and the later versions are generally considered to be the pick of the range. The 3. 2 Mondial in coupé form—and Cabriolet sister model—benefitted from a more powerful V-8 engine compared to the earlier 2. 9-litre car, which featured Marelli Multiplex electronic fuel injection.
Presented in the classic Ferrari colour combination of Rosso Corsa over Nero leather seats, the stylish looks of this example are completed by a black soft-top hood. Its first owner is understood to have fitted different Ferrari wheels, and also lowered the car. In the ownership of Monsieur Petitjean since 1989, the Ferrari was used regularly by its consignor in the south of France until 2000, at which point it was put on static display in his collection, The car is presented with a Ferrari user manual and service book in a leather pouch, together with its jack and tool roll.
