Description
This Morris Minor MM Lowlight Convertible is the best example of a Morris Minor we have had the privilege to offer for sale.
It was manufactured at Cowley between March and July 1950 and the early buff log book in the history file shows us that it spent the first few years of its life in Malta from where it was repatriated back to England in 1955. It was registered in Devon and given the registration number of HCO132 which it still wears today.
It remained in Devon until 1969 when it moved 60 miles to Somerset with its third UK registered owner. An MOT certificate dated May 1971 from Somerset shows us that the mileage at the time was 40545. We believe that sometime after this the car was off the road for many years.
In 2010 it was still in Somerset only 9 miles from where it had an MOT in 1971 and where during 2010-2011 it was subject to a full and exceptional professional rebuild during which it was converted into Tourer specification and upgraded with a remanufactured Ivor Searle 1098cc A-Series engine along with a fully rebuilt later specification four speed gearbox making this car ideal for regular use.
The standard of the rebuild is of show winning quality having a superb paint finish throughout including under the bonnet, inside the boot and on the body coloured underside. The interior trimming, the mohair hood and the chrome work throughout are excellent.
Removable indicators have been fitted below the bumpers front and rear to improve safety when out driving on today's roads.
The mileage on completion of the rebuild was 49208 and in 2014 it went into a private collection. The current mileage is 50048 showing that it has only covered 840 miles since the rebuild.
The car is MOT exempt.
The large history file contains the current V5, the original buff log book, the most recent MOT, previous MOT certificates and dozens of invoices detailing work completed and parts purchased.
The car will be licensed for twelve months from the date of sale for the new owner at no cost as it qualifies for the Historic Taxation class.
To rebuild and upgrade a Minor to this standard would cost many £1000s more that the asking price.
