Description
This 1950 Bristol 401 is presented in rich blue coachwork. The cream leather interior is in great condition having been fully re-trimmed including fresh carpets and headlining in 2008 by Bristol Cars. Alongside the interior refurbishment the car has been put through an extensive full restoration in the same year to include, but not limited to, a full body respray, chassis rebuild and windscreen and steering wheel replacement costing in excess of £66, 000. In August of 2008 the car was awarded first place in the BOC annual Concours D'Elegance.
This example has had only 2 owners in the past 25 years who have maintained and enjoyed looking after the vehicle by keeping it serviced and prepared for many touring adventures abroad which come well documented in the history file supplied with the car.
Most recent works have been carried out exclusively in the past 12 years by marque specialists Spencer Lane-Jones LTD. In 2014 both the engine and gearbox were both fully rebuilt, the gearbox was rebuilt to a standard specification whereas the engine was built to Spencer Lane-Jones fast road spec, this features many upgrades from standard to name a few:
Cosworth pistons
Bristol sports camshaft
Camshaft vernier timing pulley
401/ 298 has had large amounts of restoration work carried out in the past 2 years, the complete suspension and lubrication systems has been rebuilt, the front brakes have been converted to discs and a new water pump has been fitted.
