Description
These Jaguar Mk1s, particularly in their 3. 4 Litre form with Manual/ Overdrive gearbox, have become very highly regarded and much sought-after in recent times. This is due not only to their extreme rarity, but also the recognition of their significance in Jaguar`s amazing – motorsport-led – history. Even today the Mk1s make popular and competitive appearances at The Goodwood Revival and the Mike Hawthorn Jaguar Challenge Series. Unlike the Mk2 - the Jaguar Mk1 is understated in its elegance ..... and very light and nimble!
The car was a design classic from the outset when it was launched in 1956 and is today a design icon.
This example – an original UK Right Hand Drive example - is a wonderful `survivor`, retaining huge originality which sets it apart from so many others. It gives good, reliable, service (and performance!) and will cruise comfortably at 85 mph with more performance in hand.
Having had two very considerate custodians from 1973-23 she has had only five owners in total from new. Apart from a colour change in 1962 (recorded in its original buff log book!) the car remains completely original. Original headlining, interior trim, wood and carpets all combine to make this a very special possession. History can be traced from Day One!
She also possesses her original and very distinctive Registration Number ODO 11.
Performing beautifully with a strong engine driving through an excellent Moss/ Overdrive gearbox, she possesses her original disc brakes all round and just oozes charm and character! The steering, too, is “spot on”! To compensate for its slightly narrow rear track, I have retained the original Mk1 rear axle, but replaced the rear wheels with 5 ½ “ 72-spoke Triple Laced Competition wires and have fitted Blockley Radials all round. She feels very sure-footed.
In short: a wonderful example of a very original and well-looked after Mk1 Jaguar Saloon with great UK history owned and offered exclusively by WinSpeed of Guildford.
