Description
An outstanding early example of the iconic MGB Roadster. This 1964 MkI ‘pull handle’ model in Iris Blue is in fabulous condition both inside and out.
We understand that having spent its early life as a LHD expatriate in the USA, the car returned to the UK in 1993. In the late 1990s it underwent a full and comprehensive rebuild, transforming the original body shell and 3 bearing engine in to an absolutely stunning RHD car in beautiful Iris Blue that was treated to a further bare-metal respray two years ago and which has retained its A1 condition ever since.
Having been a winning show car and cosseted in a carpeted garage for most of its post-restoration years this Roadster remains rock solid, travelling little more than 2, 000 miles over the last 10 years.
Mechanically, the car has been sympathetically improved: following a full rebuild, the engine now boasts 1840cc; the cylinder head treated to new double spring valves, part gas flowed and ported and topped-off with an alloy rocker cover; the rear suspension slightly lowered; V8 front suspension wishbones fitted; electronic fuel pump fitted; and the addition of a GES stainless steel exhaust offers a lovely rumble to underpin what is otherwise a very smooth drive.
Inside has been similarly lavished with care and attention - including the fitment of the period correct Radiomobile 970 – with the dark blue leather trim set-off beautifully by pale blue piping. The dark blue mohair top is in great condition with all fixtures and fixings in good working order.
This gorgeous Roadster not only looks fantastic but is a delight to drive. It comes with a Heritage Certificate, a comprehensive history file – which details practically each time the car has been touched since the early ‘90s – and will be sold with a new MOT so that it can be driven away and enjoyed!
