Much of the Porsche 911's development had resulted from the factory's racing programme, and it was the then Group 4 homologation rules, which required 400 road cars to be built, which spurred the development of 'Project 930': the legendary 911 Turbo. In production from April 1975, the Type 930 Turbo married a KKK turbocharger to the 3. 0-litre RSR engine, in road trim a combination that delivered 260bhp for a top speed of 155mph (250km/ h). But the Turbo wasn't just about top speed, it was also the best-equipped 911 and amazingly flexible - hence only four speeds in the gearbox - being capable of racing from a standstill to 100mph (62km/ h) in 14 seconds.

The Turbo's characteristic flared wheelarches and 'tea tray' rear spoiler had already been seen on the Carrera model while the interior was the most luxurious yet seen in a 911, featuring leather upholstery, air conditioning and electric windows. The Turbo's engine was enlarged to 3. 3 litres for 1978, gaining an inter-cooler in the process; power increased to 300bhp and the top speed of what was the fastest-accelerating road car of its day went up to 160mph (257km/ h).

More refined than hitherto yet retaining its high performance edge, the Porsche 911 Turbo sold in the thousands, becoming the definitive sports car of its age. When Porsche revealed that the original 911 would be replaced by the new Type 964 in 1990, dealer stocks of the existing Turbo model sold out overnight. Production of the Type 930 ceased in September 1989, and there would not be another 911 Turbo until the Type 964 version was launched in September 1990.

Built in February 1986, this 'non-catalyst' Porsche 911 Turbo was bought in Spain and immediately delivered to the USA. Its first owner, American-born John Glatz, ordered the car in Europe as he wanted the more powerful, 300 hp European 3. 3-litre version. When the car arrived in the US, it was modified to US specifications. The odometer that showed 410 km was replaced for a new mile counter. It was first registered in Illinois in 1986. From the very first day, all mileage had been meticulously recorded: from the distance from the factory in Zuffenhausen to the boat in Frankfurt, et cetera. All service was caried out by the first owner, an aviation engineer, with all invoices kept in file.

The current owner bought the car in 2011 and brought it back to Europe and converted it back to EU specs with all the original parts that came off in 1986. The US odometer showed 5. 298 miles and was replaced by the original EU odometer with 410 km's. At present day, the car has only driven 9. 600 km's in total.

It is presented in a beautiful, unrestored condition. The cars drives very well and everything is functioning as it should. The paintwork seems to be original; the paint thickness witnesses this. The car was delivered new with several interesting options like a heavier battery, second exterior mirror, alarm system and sunroof. The car comes with full service history including the following documents: service book stamped up to 2011; photocopies of the original Porsche purchase invoice, of the original Porsche 'tourist delivery car order', of the original custom documents; of the shipping document to the USA; of the Arizona, USA title; Sony sounds system invoice; 2011 custom documents regarding shipment from the USA to the Netherlands. And, of course, with an overview of the mileage both in the US and in Europe.

The 930 Turbo is a must have for every true Porsche collector that is looking for a fully original, low mileage car!
