The exciting car offered here is an example of one of the rarest of Porsche 911 Type 993 variants: the Carrera RS with the 3. 8-litre engine, which was intended for amateur motor sports use and produced in limited numbers.

In 1993 Porsche had introduced what is regarded by many as the most beautiful 911 of all: the Type 993. Over the years the 911 had received numerous aerodynamic and safety-inspired add-ons, diluting the purity of the original form; the Type 993’s arrival marked a return to basic principles, being recognisably a 911 but one in which all functions had been harmoniously integrated in a truly outstanding example of modern automotive styling. The range offered remained pretty much as before, comprising two- and four-wheel drive models, the legendary Turbo and the Cabriolet convertible, all powered by the latest 3. 6-litre version of Porsche’s perennial flat-six engine.

In January 1995 the range was extended by the introduction of the Carrera RS. Described by its maker as a ‘street-legal two-seater’, the RS was based on the two-wheel-drive Carrera, and like its legendary RennSport forebear of the 1970s, was considerably lighter and more powerful than the stock version. Everything considered unnecessary for competition purposes - electric windows, electric mirrors, central locking, headlight washers, stereo speakers, etc - was discarded, while aluminium was used for the front luggage compartment lid and thinner window glass specified. Airbags were optional and the two bucket seats were lighter than the standard items; the result was a reduction in weight of around 100kg. Power assisted steering was retained.

For the Carrera RS ‘3. 8’, the engine’s bore size was increased by 2mm for a capacity of 3, 746cc. maximum power went up to 300bhp, lowered suspension improved the handling, and the RS came as standard with the optional dynamic limited-slip differential and RS Cup-type 18” wheels.
The rarest of the air-cooled 911 RS generations; 1, 580 examples of the 2. 7 RS were built, 2, 276 of the 964 RS and just 1, 104 examples of the 993 RS, like the example offered here.

This beautiful Carrera RS was Delivered new in Freiburg, Germany finished in the desirable Polar Silver colour scheme and equipped with the following options:

197 stronger battery
371/ 372 Carrera RS Sport seats left and right
451 without preparation for radio
562 front airbags
567 top-tinted windscreen
573 air conditioning
651 electric windows

In 1999 the Carrera found its way to Belgium where the brake fluid was changed by RS Motors at 45, 000 kilometres. Of note is the Belgian Porsche D'Ieteren import plaque, visible in the boot. The current odometer reading from new is 73, 811 kilometres and it is clear that the car covered most of that distance in the first 10 years of its life. The current owner purchased the Porsche 10 years ago, with the intention to not add too many kilometres and dry-storing the car in excellent condition, realising he was sitting on a solid investment. Although he intending to drive it, a lack of time has meant he never got round registering the car and today - with even fewer opportunities to enjoy it - he has decided to part with it. The 993 RS has been inspected and freshly serviced (September 2024) by respected Porsche dealers RS Motors in Ingelmunster, Belgium, who advised that it is a very good example. The car comes with its original Porsche leather pouch containing all books including the original stamped service book; old registration document (Monaco); and Belgian Demande d'Immatriculation (EU taxes are paid). The rarest of all air-cooled 911 RS generations, this is a wonderful opportunity to acquire a relatively little-used example of this very rare and collectible Porsche supercar.
