For Sale '71 1 Owner Devon Moonraker, Original Awning-
In the spring of 1971 Mr Lionel Davis and his wife, decided to buy a brand new Volkswagen camper to enjoy with their young family. So they visited "Jack Wilson" their nearest Volkswagen main agent in Aberdeen and placed an order for a Devon Moonraker.
Finished in Pastel White (L90D) over Sierra Yellow (L11H). It underwent its PDI on the 9th June '71 and 2 days later was first registered ready for collection.
Lionel and his family have had so many happy adventures in their beautiful old bus over the last 52 years and as so many became a real member of the family, so was always garaged and maintained throughout its life.
Sadly Lionel isn't in such good health and his family have decided its time for the treasured bus to be taken care of by a new custodian, to enjoy the next chapter of its life.
The camper is still in very nice condition, but could do with just a little work here and there to make concourse or simply to enjoy as it is.
As you can see Lionel had a side step and tow bar fitted at some point.
The bellows in the elevating roof is in stunning condition.
A few years ago Lionel had a full set of seat covers made for the front and rear seats, which look period perfect.
I love this camper so much, that it even still wears the original curtains, which again due to being parked in a garage all its life, the 52 year old material shows very little sun bleaching.
For those not familiar with the Moonraker, it has seating for 5 people. The forward facing twin rear seat and single seat allow dining around the table. But the single seat can also be adapted in minutes to face forwards for travelling if you wish. The rear seats then convert in a double bed, whilst in the elevating roof you have two child bunks.
Next to the double seat you have the sink, storage cupboard and cutlery drawer, together with a cool box.
You'll notice in the photos, the cooker can be used either indoors or can be swung to use outside, for a little alfresco cooking.
The table also has additional legs so you can use this outside as well.
There's lots of history with the bus, including the original service book with lots of stamps and even the original Devon instruction booklet.
Then perhaps the icing on the cake, is that it comes with the original "Motent" awning, which again is in near perfect condition.
Its rare to find such a lovely camper with so much originality ansd only 1 owner from new.
Make it yours for £25, 000.
