Current owner for over 23 years
Huge history file and fully stamped service book
Has covered a relatively low 109, 400 milesFirst registered on the 2nd of February 1990 at Merlin Porsche in Nottingham for a Mr Chapman, this Porsche 928 GT Manual is 1 of only 225 examples made and delivered new to the UK. Riding on the original Cast Design 90 wheels and finished in Marine Blue over Linen Sports seats with blue piping, this really is a proper head-turning car and after 23 years cherished in the current ownership, is looking for a new custodian.
The car comes with a hugely comprehensive history file detailing work carried out right back to the original owner, and with a complete MOT history back to the original test in July 1994. The car’s service booklet is very regularly stamped from 1990 right up until March 2024 when it was serviced at known Porsche 928 specialists Loe Bank Motors of Bury, in order to prepare it for sale at Retro Sect.
Having covered a relatively low 109, 400 miles, this manual Porsche 928 GT is a good example that has been very well cared for but unfortunately has not gained more than 500 miles since 2017, though has been given a regular MOT and was serviced in 2021 despite lack of use. The cambelt was changed in August 2017 in addition to a major service and some other work to the car that is fully detailed in the history file.
The car drives well, though will require some work to make it perfect. Firstly, it should be noted that the PSD is not fully operational and a warning light is displayed on the dashboard at startup. It has been in this state for the entire duration of the current owner’s 23 year tenure. This is an incredibly common occurrence with the 928s and is generally regarded as a non-issue for most drivers; the cost of repair massively outweighs the noticeable benefit on all but fast track driving. Secondly, the air-conditioning is not fully operational, though was working in 2017.
Internally the car is in lovely condition with the Linen (cream) leather holding up well without staining, whilst custom mats have protected the original cream carpet well. There appears to be a small fault with the boot lid opening mechanism on the driver’s side which I am currently investigating and hope to rectify for the new owner. The passenger side electric release works fine. The driver’s door pin is also intermittent in popping up with the central locking but works manually.
Externally the car presents very well with only some minor bubbling around the front emblem (another unfortunately common problem on 928s). Paintwork was completed on the doors and front wings in 2007, which is detailed in the history file and appears to have been completed to a high standard with excellent colour match.
The car comes with an RMB Muffler Bypass exhaust which could be fitted if, for some reason, you wanted to hush the wonderful V8 burble a little. The boot toolkit is mostly complete, a trickle charger with an easily-accessible plug has been fitted and original Porsche Airmate air compressor is also included in its own carry case. Some service parts are also included.
In addition to the comprehensive history file, the original leather Porsche handbook is included with all original documentation and literature included.
