Description
Possibly the lowest mileage A series Metro in existence outside of a museum, this vehicle is entirely original having only recently had all its original fluids changed, spark plugs changed, service points greased and new wiper blades all round for the first time!
It belonged to my father who bought it as a "spare" when he ran a VDP Metro day to day. It never actually ended up getting used by him, and in fact only had one MOT just prior to his ownership (and none prior to that).
It is 100% original, has never been repainted, re-welded, had any panels replaced etc. and still has its wax on the underside.
I have all the paperwork from new including the sales receipt when passed to my father, it was only registered in my name to be able to look after it, but have the previous V5 in dad's name too which shows the original owner as the one and only previous owner.
Paint is generally excellent/ flawless and there are no dents that I am aware of.
The cylinder head, rocker box and breathers have been freshly refinished in satin black along with a repro A+ decal fitted The inner wings and engine bay panel work etc. are perfect.
Spare tyre is as new, jack is present, book pack present, original radio present and works (but is requesting a code and not accepting the one written in the book). All tyres are physically in good order due to being out of sunlight almost all their lives but I could not recommend driving a long distance on them
Whilst Its mileage makes it likely unique, its overall condition is also exceptional. It has never been repainted, it still has its wax on underneath, the only real mark is a stonechip on the bonnet (see pic) that has lead to some "spidering" under the paint around it. This mark is highly localized, and has certainly not perforated the metal (essentially its very light surface corrosion only). It has the lightest of marks around the windscreen washer jet hole and some very light marking to the bonnet slam panel. To make it perfect externally it really needs a set of window rubbers though as they have suffered with age.
Rear silencer has a small hole in it which was patched for the MOT, however a new replacement silencer is included with the sale (see pic)
It could be made 100% perfect with very little effort at all. The price has now been revised to an average of the reserves suggested by the auction houses I have contacted and is not now open to offers. My father has now passed away so the car needs to go. If unsold it will be auctioned in the springSold to a lady in Ellesmere Port and first registered on 15th April 1991, it was bought by my father in June 2003 from a trader who lived on his road (who had bought it from the first owner). There are receipts of sale from her to the trader, copy of first V5, actual second V5 and of course the current V5 in my name. All the books are present, the radio code card, first service voucher, MOT from May 6th 2003 (when it first changed hands to the trader) and the current MOT from 5/ 6/ 2024.
There are receipts for all my recent recommissioning expenditure: Coolant, brake fluid, wipers, battery, oil etc.
The vehicle has two keys which fit all the locks (by this model year the Metro had moved to a single key).
