Description
Riley 9hp Touring Saloon, 1937
The Riley 9HP Touring Saloon, was a 4 seater built with a, new for Riley, all steel body. This particular car has the Merlin Special Series engine coupled to an Armstrong-Siddeley 4-speed pre-selector gearbox. This is now quite a rare model, only around 7-8 known to exist with only 3 having this engine and gearbox combination. This car would need very little work to be a very useable classic or a straight-forward restoration project if it was decided to take it further.
1098cc Special Series engine
Twin 7/ 8” S. U. Carburettors
Twin side camshafts operating valves through pushrods.
Negative earth electrics
Alternator (a bit of Heath-Robinson arrangement driven off the end of one of the camshafts)
4 new tyres
Re-cored radiator
LED flashing Trafficators
Halogen headlights
I will include the original dynamo but this will need re-wiring and converting to Negative earth.
This vehicle is sold on an as-seen basis and no guarantee or warranty is implied or given. This is a thoroughly civilised and comfortable car to drive.
