Description
This is a unique opportunity to purchase possible the best Rover P2 on sale. I`ve been told by the late owners son , it`s a ROVER SPORTS 12 SALOON That`s why I changed the heading . ALSO THE ENGINE IS 1496CC.
The Rover belonged to a close friend (Trevor )who died suddenly , so his widow asked me to advertise his cars for her . I recently sold his immaculate Rover P4, which I had delivered to my home , where I replaced a brake cyl . and ignition lock The first person to view the car bought it without hesitation. Now it`s his P2 for sale . Before he died , he had the car collected by his usual garage as it wasn’t running as smooth as usual and the garage found one cylinder compression was down . Removing the head they found a faulty valve this was replaced and the head was given a thorough check over, all valves were reground checked and the head was refitted . During this time the owner Trevor was admitted to hospital where he suffered a heart attack and died. Also , before finishing the Rover , the garage owner had to go into hospital for an operation . So the car stayed wrapped up in his garage , until the mechanic returned to work. . Later when his wife had recovered from the shock she asked me to advertise the P2 . I first saw Trevor and this Rover at a classic car show and had a dream of owning it . I tried to buy the P2 off Trevor 7 or 8 years ago but no way would he part with it . This was in spite of the fact he had only driven it an average of less than 50 miles a year !!! Trevor purchased the Rover 06 / 11 / 2011 with the milometer showing 34006 . It now reads 34606 This is the genuine reading !!!! His pleasure was keeping it in mint condition and taking it round the block on a Sunday if the weather was fine. The car has always been kept in a heated garage covered in blankets, between his trips round the block , or when polishing it !!! Sadly due to health and age reasons I have had to give up owning classic cars as a hobby or the car would be in my garage now . I`ve had a few dozen classic cars which I`ve restored over the years , but none have come up to the condition of the P2 . The car was treated as one of the family and always kept under blankets in his garage His son has given me some photos of the car and I have also taken a few . These are to show the superb condition of the car . There is quite a pile of paperwork with the car including a book Trevor kept as a record of when he did anything to the car , this also comes with a book the previous owner kept with a record of how ownership . I have also added a couple of photos of the bonnet . When the garage did the head , they removed the bonnet to save it getting damaged and when fitting it , they didn’t line it up as accurate as it should be . A classic car owner would have to spend a couple of hours lining it up getting all the gaps equal . So this is a job for the new owner to spend a little time on . When I first viewed Trevor`s car at his house , I did mention that the steering box could do with an overhaul I especially noticed this , as I had just had a steering box , rebuilt on a car I was restoring. Viewing the car yesterday I would say there is about 100mm of free play in the steering wheel , I`m not sure how this compares to how the play should be Im not sure if this was attended to while in the garage having the engine done . This is a car which if kept in this condition is a good investment and an obvious show winner , a car to be proud of owning So now is the chance for it to have a lucky new owner. I have included the email address and phone number of one of Trevor`s sons who is the one to contact . There is a slight mark on the spare wheel cover , about 8mm long . This was there when Trevor bought the car but he was worried if it was "touched" in it may make it worse .
. Prospective buyers will not be disappointed if viewing the car. I may be able to get more photos if needed but the car is a few miles from my home and the garage is a little tight I know the underside is good but of course there is a fair size chassis on it .
OPEN TO VERY NEAR SENSIBLE OFFERS BUT DONT WASTE TIME WITH A STUPID ONE. The last owner who died , owned the car from Nov. 2011 and in the 12 years he owned it he covered only 600MILES !!!
