Description
The time has come to find a new home for Rex the Allegasaurus.
Rex is 1981 Austin Allegro Series 3 1. 5 L Twin Carb. 5 Speed Manual Denim Blue Metallic with a Black Vinyl roof.
Tax & Mot Exempt with 49, 340 miles (still in regular use). I have had Rex since June 2022. The owner previous to me purchased him around 2019 after being garaged for close to 30 years. As a result of his 2nd owner nearly having an accident with a moped, and loosing her confidence in driving.
He was sold new through PJ Evans (now Evans Halshaw) in Tamworth and remainined in the Tamworth area until my ownership. I have the current V5, owners handbook and 2 sets of keys.
When I first bought Rex some recommissioning work was needed. This included a new fuel pump, carburettors overhauling, steering rack replacing, Hydragas Suspension units reconditioned (at a cost of around £400) and generally a good service.
I also at the time took the opportunity to fit Lumenition Optronic Ignition, new plugs, cap and rotor arm.
Recently had a new water pump fitted and the cooling system flushed.
5 good tyres with plenty of tread left.
I have taken the opportunity to fit a set of HL spec; twin headlamps (original grille and lights included), centre console & clocks
Since 2022 I’ve done about 4000 miles. Other than general routine maintenance there have been no issues.
Please remember Rex is 43 years old and was built by British Leyland, so he does have a few squeaks, rattles and quirks. As can been in the photos, he now need in need of some cosmetic attention, which I don’t have the time to give him. Structurally he is solid. So to someone with the right skills, or willing to ‘give it a go’ he will be an easy winter project, which could be ready for next years show season.
As an added bonus Rex also comes with Fred, a gold Series 3 Allegro for spares. Please note Fred does not have an engine, interior or suspension cans. Fred does also have a current V5.
All this British Leyland loveliness can be yours for £2500.
Both cars are located in Teesside, and it would be the buyers responsibility to collect them.

Please note the towbar seen in the photos, will not be going with the car.
