Description
Offered for sale is my fathers 1965 Austin 1100. We've both owned it for around a year but sadly haven't used it much. My dad needs the garage space back, so regretfully offered for sale.
Good bits:
Runs and drives, as well as expected for an old Austin!
Appears very solid.
Has a nice patina (it certainly isn't concurs!).
Lots of history with it, so i would assume the mileage to be genuine. Has the original bill of sale, log book etc. Very few owners, i think only 3 or 4?
Hydragas suspension works fine and it lovely and comfy. No sagging or the like.
2 keys, wind deflector, roof rack and coin holder included.
Always starts first time with choke and idles nicely without once warm.
Good wheels, tyres, hubcaps all round.
Bad bits:
The patina... it's love or hate. It has marks and rust spots all over. I think it's been stood for a while, then the previous owner welded it (new floor pans i was told) and got it road worthy, but kept the original look. I quite like it, but if you're looking for a show queen, look elsewhere!
The roof lining was sagging so we took it out. It's included with the sale.
Some local youths tried stealing it, so the ignition barrel is slightly damaged and some lights hanging loose. Ignition still works fine on the key.
Seats in good condition but DIY carpet inside. Interior could do with a spruce up.
The last time we moved it, the carb felt a little boggy when driving uphill. May just need a good run or carb service. Starts and idles nice, just doesn't like steep hills!
Indicator stalk is broke, still works if you're gentle with it.
It does run and drive, but due to the recently bogging of the carb, i personally wouldn't recommend driving it back (Yorkshire is hilly!) & would advise a trailer. It is tax and insured, so test drives a possibility, but bear in mind the carb issue.
Not interested in any px or swaps sorry. Dad needs his garage space back. Open to reasonable offers, but won't entertain anything stupid.
Thanks for looking!
