Exterior
This incredible Ducati 996 SPS (Sport Production Special) is a genuine UK model finished in flawless Foggy Race Rep paint scheme from new.
The tank and bodywork are in incredible condition, the Sargent seat complements the finish. Under the seat unit you will find the full Ducati tool kit. The higher specification SPS tubular steel trellis frame is stunning.
The factory fit rear Ohlins shock is in perfect order as are the titanium nitrided Showa fully adjustable front forks.
Harris rearsets have been fitted along with bar ends, clutch cover, clutch slave cylinder, brake and clutch levers. All original Ducati parts are included.

Wheels, Tyres & Brakes
This stunning 996 SPS is fitted with the original unmarked light weight 5 Spoke Marchesini racing wheels with matching excellent 120/ 70 ZR17 Front and 190/ 50 ZR17 Rear Michelin Pilot Power tyres.
Brembo Gold Series brake calipers, front: 2 x 320 mm discs, 4 piston calipers rear: single 220 mm disc, 2 piston caliper needless to say the stopping power is excellent.
Engine & Transmission
The 996’s special SPS lighter engine was much stronger than anything that Ducati or any other manufacturer at the time had produced for the track. The 996 cc 90° V-Twin, two fuel injectors per cylinder, 4 valve per cylinder desmodromic, liquid cooled engine produces 124 BHP.
A two year major service has just been completed including cambelts and all fluids.
To ride she pulls beautifully and the 6 speed gearbox and clutch operate with ease, the Ducati V-Twin sound through the Termignoni exhausts is magical.
Summary
This incredible and very rare Ducati 996 SPS was registered in the UK by Ducati Main Dealer Bridge Motorcycles, Andover on 23rd June 1999. This is bike number 15 of 808 SPS's produced in 1999 with the Showa front forks a total of 1780 bikes were produced for worldwide distribution during 1999/ 2000. Only 40 genuine UK specification bikes were officially imported in 1999, this is one of those bikes with a desirable very early build number. We understand the bike was painted from new once in the UK into the Foggy Race Rep paint scheme.
Supplied with the original owners manual, service booklet, world dealer guide, original genuine Ducati tool kit, 2 genuine Ducati keys one key fits all locks, and 3 x Ducati Eprom Microchips. The history file is packed with invoices and receipts for servicing from new plus bills of sale over the past 21 years. There are 19 past MOT certificates everyone from the first on 26th June 2002 stating the recorded mileage of 2587.

Ducati 996 SPS Rarer Than A Vincent Black Shadow
1997 saw the introduction of the 916 SPS, with the 996cc motor, and Bologna produced 908 pieces for 1997 and 98. Of those 916 SPSs, they built 202 Foggy Replicas. Between 1999 and 2000 the new 996 SPS arrived on the scene and Ducati produced 1780 units in total for world wide distribution. To give you an idea of how few units that is, Vincent produced more Black Shadows than Ducati made 996 SPSs. Of the 996 SPS range, they built 150 series 1 Factory Replicas (EU versions of the Foggy Rep), very rare indeed, and then a further 325 series 2 Factory Replicas. There was 150 SP2s, a budget version of the SPS for the German market, and a few other obscure versions. In total Ducati built 4980 of both the 916 and 996 SP/ S.
