Description
This 1986 Austin Mini City E has had just three keepers in total and during its time it has had relatively limited use which is why it retains a low mileage of just 54, 182 miles. The car has spent a good deal of its life in storage and after a number of years a prior custodian decided in 2013 to have totally restored. It was given to a mini specialist, Somerford Mini who carried out a total refurbishment of the body replacing panels where necessary with genuine Rover/ Heritage parts. The body refurbishment alone cost over £9, 000 and combined with other works which included
converting the cylinder head to run on unleaded,
new dashboard,
new wider arches and wider wheels,
new headlining,
new carpets and underlay,
Rebuilt suspension and running gear
New rear subframe
Engine checkover
Rebuild brakes
Sports steering wheel
New seat covers
In total, just over £19, 000 was spent on the restoration in 2013 and immediately following the restoration the car was again put into storage. and as you will see from the photographs this is a superb looking car that needs nothing doing to it. The restoration is fully documented with a large number of invoices in the history file. There are also a number of old MOTs and other miscellaneous invoices along with all the books that came with the car when new including the service book.
The black paint finish is excellent and the interior is almost like new. The car starts on the button and runs and drives as it should. A new advisory free MOT has recently been issued.
If you are looking for a practical every day classic which has had everything done this one is it. The engine is still relatively low mileage and given the preservation work that has been done, this car should provide excellent service in the years ahead. There are not many Minis of this era which have had almost £20k spent on them, and at just £7, 950 we think it represent fantastic value for money.
