Description
For sale is this lovely and largely original 1967 Ducati 250 Monza. First registered in the Netherlands in May of 1968, this is one of the last ‘narrow case’ models produced by Ducati for model year 1967. These five speed gearbox, single cylinder models were replaced by the larger (and heavier) ‘wide case’ models the year after.
The 250 Monza was a more touring oriented 250cc bike, with a riding position aimed to offer good comfort and handling. This can be viewed by the high handlebars and large dual seat fitted to this model.
Specific for the later Monza models is the angular shaped Aprilia headlight and specific switchgear on the headlight and handlebar. This particular example has all these correct items fitted and they are in a very good and functioning condition.
Although the 250 Monza was a touring model, there was a ‘tuning pack’ available, consisting of a hotter camshaft, a Dell’Orto SS1 29mm carburettor and a Veglia ‘racing’ rev counter. Not many buyers chose to get this optional extra but this example has it fitted, making this quite rare on a 250 Monza. The tuning pack is further celebrated with a nice sticker on the air filter housing and toolbox saying ‘Tuned Engine’.
Tuned as it may, it remains a more touring oriented 250cc Ducati single, so don’t expect this bike to surprise you in terms of outright performance. That said, the bike is running in optimal condition.
This lovely and sympathetic Ducati 250 Monza is the perfect bike for a nice ride on a Sunday afternoon. The dual seat will easily allow for your wife (or girlfriend) to hop on and join the ride to the ice-cream parlor.
