1931 Riley 9 ‘Plus Series’ Biarritz Sunshine Saloon
First appearing in 1928, the Biarritz was a fabric bodied saloon with several novel features which placed it in a more upmarket position than the Riley Monaco.
The ‘Plus’ Series model from late 1930 was to be revised with half panelled semi-fabric coachwork and in this form the Biarritz continued until 1932.
This very smart example was first registered in 1931 in Newcastle-upon Tyne, although it may well have been built in late 1930.
A major restoration has been carried out with the work shown in an album of photographs supplied.
Interestingly, the original bill of sale is included in the documentation, along with the Factory guarantee - it is particularly rare to find such historical items.
Today, only around 15 survivors of the Biarritz model are known to the Riley Register, making this one of the rarer Riley saloons.
Attractively finished in Russet Brown, this charming and stylish car is certain to attract considerable interest wherever it is seen.
