Description
Here for sale is a rare late 67 early 68 first series widecase scrambler.
This is the first of the widecase bike before Ducati added the strengthening loops and braced swing arm. These were built using early narrowcase fuel tanks and mudguards specifically for this model and when the frame changed so did all the body work.
The bike itself was imported to the uk many years ago and well known Ducati enthusiast started collecting all the tinware etc buying only new old stock which took a great deal of time. This is where I came in and purchased it a year or so ago and proceeded to compile a list of what else was required to complete it and started purchasing them from various sources, if new was available that was what was fitted.
Then I sent it off to a very good restorer who previously completed my own narrowcase scambler restoration.
This bike has wanted for nothing, engine has been rebuilt including new liner and piston and bearings etc, body is all new old stock (except tank) including headlight and speedo, new wheels, tyres and spokes, tyre are Duro and are replica size and pattern to the original Pirelli tyres that were fitted from factory.
You certainly won’t be disappointed in this and it’s ideal to go in a collection or use as there aren’t many good original ones available especially in the uk so if you collect Ducati singles this is one that many don’t have and with all the new old stock parts is as close to original as you will get on a restoration.
Then only thing not factory is the carb, its running on a Dellorto VHB 29 (correct size and brand but wrong model) when it should have a SS1 29D. I have one that will come with the bike that has been refurbished.
