Sophie is, regrettably, for sale and is a tidy Series 2 Land Rover in bronze green with a khaki canvas top. It has been fitted with the popular 200TDI conversion to give a more modern driving experience. This vehicle has been well looked after and maintained , resulting in a good looking Land Rover that is a pleasure to drive.
Externally, the bodywork is in good condition and looks tidy considering it’s age. There are all the usual Land Rover features, such as the mudflaps, front lifting eyes, rear grab handles, bonnet mounted spare, galvanised bonnet clasps, rear lamp guards door mounted mirrors (changed from the usual wing-mounted mirrors for better visibility). The old wing mirrors can be included in the sale if required. There is also a ball and pin towbar and electrics. The vehicle is fitted with a set of Good Year G 90 tyres, which are widely recognised for their excellent off-road capability but also giving a good ride on the road.
Internally, three front deluxe seats are fitted, with the outer seats being of the highback type with integrated headrests. Inertia reel seatbelts are fitted for the driver and passenger while the centre seat has lap belt. The original steering wheel is still present with the horn on the column, twin individual wipers, and a Clayton heater with front demist. Rubber matting is fitted to the front footwells. The rear houses removable twin bench seats, while a load mat is fitted to the floor area. The khaki canvas top is like new and compliments the vehicle’s overall appearance.
The 200TDI engine is a welcome power and economy improvement over the original petrol engine setup. The addition of the overdrive gives longer in-gear acceleration and a quieter cruising experience, at a higher speed. If you’re brave enough, this Land Rover will cruise comfortably at 60 mph! The parabolic springs give better on-road comfort, and a more compliant ride. The combination of engine, overdrive and free- wheeling hubs combine to make a powerful yet economical vehicle.
Although this vehicle is of course Tax and MOT exempt, it does have a current MOT valid until June 2025, and it can be economically insured with Classic insurance.
