Description
Due to unprecedented commitments both at home and abroad, I have made the difficult decision to part with my beloved Riley RMA. Purported to have been a Foreign Office staff car in the former Ceylon, it remained in the now Sri Lanka for most of its life, so never went rusty! Since being repatriated to Great Britain the car has undergone considerable mechanical restoration, including a full engine re-build, clutch, braking system, new tyres and more. I have recent bills detailing recent expenditure of more than £8, 500. It is beautifully authentic and original and a sheer joy to drive. A very sweet sounding engine, never overheats, excellent oil pressure, and a very tight gearbox pulling with tremendous torque through all four gears.
A striking silver and black with a gorgeous deep burgundy leather interior. In my opinion, the best colour combination!
It is fair to say that the paintwork could be improved in places, yet I love the “patina” as it is, not over restored but showing the history of a much cherished post-war executive tourer.
I am looking for the next custodian of this wonderful car. I have a good history file, including the original log book as well as a bundle of invoices showing the considerable works carried out in recent years. A member of the Riley Owners Club, I also have a stack of Club magazines which go with the file.
Viewing ( in Dorset ) is by appointment only please.
If you are unable to consider purchasing at the moment, here is a proposal which could be mutually beneficial:
Due to unforeseen commitments at home and abroad, I am unable to use my beloved 1951 Riley RMA for several months, and I would rather she was used and enjoyed rather than laid up, so I am offering her on a 6, 9 or 12 month free loan agreement, for a minimum deposit of £2, 500. At the end of the term, the deposit will be returned as well as any funds spent on improving her, either mechanically or cosmetically. ( An agreement can be reached regarding any time expended ). This will ideally suit a mechanic or enthusiast who is able to “tinker” and improve the car during the term of the agreement.
This opportunity is a mutually attractive proposition as it means the “borrower” effectively acquires a gorgeous classic car free of charge for a specified term, while I hold a goodwill deposit whilst the car gets enjoyed and used, rather than being dry stored.
Furthermore, for any entrepreneurs out there, there is the opportunity to supply the car for film & TV work, promotions and events, on a 50/ 50 profit share basis.
Genuine and serious enquiries only please.
Further details and photographs will be provided as soon as a suitable “match” has been found.
