Description
1953 VW Barndoor deluxe "The Greek" Volkswagen Barndoor 1953 luxury samba bus. after some hesitation on the part of the current owner, it is now definitely for sale. in vw circles, a well-known barndoor deluxe bus. it was built on 2 March 1953 and was sold by the German VW dealer Moritz in Reutlingen. this VW dealer still exists. After a few years, it was exported to Athens, Greece, where it was used as a school bus. In the old album photo you can see 3 school buses, the one on the left is this one, the one at the back is a 51er which is now fully restored in the U. S. We bought this luxury barn in 2012 and also sold it to the current owner in 2012. The current owner wanted to keep this barn door optically as it is, but the bus needed to be reliable. The following activities were carried out by us: The chassis was ice-blasted and waxed. You can clearly see the original overspray on the chassis. The front axle, gearbox and engine were overhauled and built correctly. The roof mechanism has been rebuilt and fitted with a new canvas cover. It also received new ATE brakes and 5 new 16″ tyres from Hedenau. Since then it has covered many miles without any problems. It really is such a beautiful bus where all the parts have aged together. On the bodywork, almost nothing has been welded. What's more, all the rare parts are still original, such as the rear lights, Plexiglas skylights and corner windows, the expensive ashtray, the expensive Blaupunkt radio, the 16″ rims, the petrol tank in original paint, the trim all around is original, in short, a real time capsule. A true survivor of time, this barn samba can be described as unique, not least in terms of its originality. Equipped with Dutch registration, old photos and VW certificate are included. Delivery possible.
