Description
1935 Riley Kestrel 15/ 6 four light saloon.
Chassis number: 44T2355
Registration Number: TI4340 (Swiss)
Just thee of these six cylinder Rileys are on the Riley register making it a very very rare car. The car was delivered in March of 1935 by one John Binnie of Edinburgh. We previously sold this car quite some years ago to the current owner, an engineer in Switzerland with a full tool room & machine shop.
Since purchase some CHF 90k has been spent upon the car giving it a full engine rebuild & going though the car mechanicaly. Needless to say it now perfoms as well as it looks running easily in modern traffic & is very fast by pre war standards combining a powerful engine with a light weight body. The interior is largely original leather to the rear seats & door cards with new matching leather having been sourced for the front two seats.
The car is finished in period black paintwork as when new which presents well. A huge slide back sunroof makes for pleasant alfresco motoring. The car sits on wire wheels colour coded apple green to match the green interior leather.
Under the bonnet the engine bay is immaculate & highly detailed; the magnificent 6 cylinder engine needless to say, being the centre of attention. This is linked to an easy to use Wilson pre-select gear box. Indicated miles covered is 70, 952 to date.
The car comes with masses of papers & bills along with a detailed owners diary covering everything done to it & every journey made under the current ownership. It may be viewed by appointment in southern Switzerland.
